Know the procedure of Circumcision:

Pre-Operative:
The surgery is typically done under general or local anesthesia. Prior to the procedure, the patient will meet with Dr. Deepak Bolbandi to review his medical history as well as their personal goals for the procedure. Patient should be fasting 4 to 6 hours prior to the surgery and wash his private parts with Dove soap. He can trim his pubic hairs and the same will be checked and if required re-done by the professionals at the centre. Avoid wearing gold jewellery to the centre. However patients are allowed to carry mobiles, cash and cards with them and locker facilities are available if they are coming alone. Complete basic blood tests are to be done before the procedure though not mandatory in all patients. Patients should expect to relax (no strenuous activity) for the day after the surgery and avoid activities such as exercising, swimming and intercourse. The surgery is generally a very minor one and patients will be discharged on the same day and can participate in normal activities after clearance from the doctor within 48 hours.

Intraoperative:
The patient will be taken to a state-of-the-art Operating room where you will be assisted by our surgical team of anesthetists and nurses. They will explain the complete process and will help in making him comfortable and relaxed prior to surgery. The choice of anesthesia will be explained in detail and the patient can choose the type of anesthesia he wants. However if the patient is not sure then the surgery team led by Dr.Deepak Bolbandi will decide which is best suited according to the International standards. The surgery will take about 15 to 20 minutes. Extra care will be taken to give Ultrasound-guided Penile Block so that you will not experience any pain after the surgery. You can pass urine after the surgery. Four hours after the procedure Juice / Tender coconut water / Milk / Tea / Coffee will be given after which the patient can have food and is ready to go home.

Post-Operative:
After surgery, the patient will be sent home with a compressive bandage on the penis. In case of conventional, Laser, Cosmetic circumcision the sutures / stitches will dissolve in 4 weeks time. In ZSR type the staples / Ring will fall off in 4 weeks time. The patient should also wear supportive underwear to help keep the bandage in place. You will be given a course of antibiotics and analgesics. Specific instructions on when and how to remove the bandage will be given. It should not be taken off before that time which ideally is 48 hours after the procedure. Many patients will be able to get back to work the very next day. Most are able to resume sexual activity in approximately three to four weeks. Ultimately, patients are very pleased with the outcome of circumcision and the care taken during the procedure.

A majority of Dr. Deepak Bolbandi’s patients conclude that the procedure improved the physical appearance of their penis, resulting in a dramatic increase in self-esteem and sexual intimacy.

The most common complications associated with circumcision are mild bleeding and infection (less than 0.5%) in our centre. However patients should be aware of this and contact Doctor or the team members immediately.
